About me.

Hello All! My name is Jessica Robinson. I am a wife, mother, worker, and a student…a modern-day superhero! I currently live in Lacey, WA and in my spare time I enjoy napping and educating my children by way of games and creative activities…but mostly napping.

Early November of this past year I decided to take a leap of faith and change my career from working in pharmacy to working with Washington state’s Paid Family and Medical Leave program. I have found my current position with this new program to be extremely rewarding. I truly value the lessons my colleagues and I receive in social science and health communication as this new program is taking off. I hope to utilize my experience in health care and my education in health communication to grow within the Paid Family and Medical Leave team. My aim is to educate the population on the health benefits of programs such as paid leave so it is not viewed as just another tax.

I created this blog not only as a portfolio piece for my work in Professional Multimedia Content Creation but also to highlight the successes in the implementation of Washington state’s Paid Family and Medical Leave program. Since the program’s launch January 1, 2020, over 14,000 Washingtonians have applied for paid leave! Washington state’s Paid Family and Medical leave program is leading the nation as the best paid leave program in the country and I am proud to be a part of it.
